Website Traffic Statistics for Web Marketer
Website Traffic Statistics
Website Traffic Statistics Analysis stands for registering visits and views of site pages, then systematizing this data and analyzing it with the aim of improving site performance and profitability. Actually, any ordinary website allows for collecting huge amounts of information about every visitor. Some of these data are almost useless (but for technical purpose). However, some are invaluable for understanding how visitors find your site, what they need, how they navigate through your pages, where they leave, and when (and why) they return. Sometimes, the results of employing a traffic analysis tool may be as serious as a decision to completely alter your marketing strategy!

There are two ways to obtain website traffic statistics. First, it’s possible to retrieve visitor data by reading the server visitor logs. The second method is to use a real-time visitor tracking system.
Log analyzers
Every visitor's request is recorded by the server in its visit log. There is some useful information in such server access logs. Many log-analyzing programs are able to parse server logs and display the information it contains in a user-friendly form. But if we take a deeper look, such analysis does not truly present useful information for your marketing. Log analyzers cannot give detailed and distinctive information about repeated and unique visits, transaction cycle time, details of a visitor's browser, screen and operating system, the effectiveness of your advertising campaigns, keywords and referrers, etc. Analysis such as this doesn’t allow for realizing the very important need to integrate and organize this process. For these reasons a solution which only utilizes website traffic statistics does not satisfy a wide circle of web marketers. They need a real-time visitor tracking system.
Real-time visitor tracking
Real-time visitor tracking of website traffic statistics analysis provides more information than simple server logs because the data is gathered directly at the time of visit and immediately at the visitor's computer. That’s why this approach is called “real-time” tracking. You must have access to the source code of your pages. All statistics should be obtained through program code, which are embedded in the source of your web pages. This code tells the browser to show the page statically on the screen and simultaneously perform certain other actions as well. This process remains invisible to the web surfer viewing the page. The data passed to the tracking center is stored in the database, and when you request the statistics for your site, it is organized into the necessary report.
